Notes on the Genealogies and Lives of the Families Adams, Moore & Montague

(c) 2003 by Danielle Skjelver

This document contains Florence Pluma Waters Orcutt's notes on the Adams, Moore, and Montague families.  They were surprising to me.  Adams is a shirt-tail-relation of the Presidents Adams.  The Montague history traces back to the time of William the Conqueror.  It is not a direct line the way the Urquhart history is.  It is fascinating stuff.  It also includes the Revolutionary War and the Lexington Alarm.

All notes have been typed verbatim except where unclear.  Spacing is different for convenience and clarity.  Photos are included where possible.  All references to "you" were to her children, one of whom is my grandmother.  You will find the remainder of her notes on the Orcutt and Scott & Hawks pages with the families Hawks, Orcutt, Waters, and Scott.

Abner Waters is the Patriot on whose service both Florence and I entered the D.A.R.

Afterward to the Notes on the Genealogies and Lives...

by Florence Waters Orcutt

"The geographical 'frontiers' of our country have all been crossed.  The lands are mostly settled now.  So it is left for you of this generation and the generations to come to be "pioneers" of the inner realms, of your spirit, your mind, and your body.

May you find the good in everything and reap the success you deserve in all your pushing-forward."

Inspired by three sentences in Florence Orcutt's notes and based on a fact, this book tells the story of two families caught in the colonial wars of New England and French Canada.
